This is a cold, windswept, treeless, desolate land. "It ain't flat from here on," warned the hotel clerk, who spoke with a drawl that rivaled a Cajun's for incomprehensibility.
Our room was cheap and comfortable and there's another continental breakfast, so I can't complain about this La Quinta. I can complain about Wyoming, though. I feel cheated; for some reason I pictured a constant sunset, with young, handsome horse-back riders more populous than cars. Instead we find hard, unhappy men and no horses.
The hours-back riders are all up in Riverton Wyoming and up from there to Yellowstone. The section you are in would be City boys.

ReplyDeleteI hope you got me a pic of the 'Buttes' sign. You guys are making great time. Vicki and I drove to Memphis a while back and took us nearly twice as long as it should have due to us stopping to visit/take pictures of everything interesting along the way. A trip across country would take me and Vicki two weeks at least. Be safe!
ReplyDeleteI don't think we have photos of any signs. :( I'll check and see. If weren't carrying everything we've ever loved in our car, I'd love to take in a few of the sights. I was telling E that I wouldn't mind making this drive again if there were a need. I'm not sure if she feels the same way, but it's been much more bearable than I anticipated.
ReplyDeleteAdam, Yellowstone is one of the regrets I have. After seeing the ugly corners of Wyoming, which were still quite spectacular, Yellowstone sounds amazing. I'd love to drive through the national park on vacation.
